Review - MUA Matte Finnish Lipsticks

I was shocked to discover MUA's new matte collection of lipsticks. At the moment there are only 5 lipsticks in this collection, instead of the 16 in their regular collection. These lipsticks are just £1 each, so the the same price which I think is pretty good for the quality of the lipsticks. From each of the five shades there are 'staple' shades, a Coral, Red, Pink, Nude and Vampy Berry colour. The obvious difference is the packaging, it's pretty similar and the same shape and design but the colour is white instead of the black, which I think looks a better but still pretty cheap.

I chose just two of the colours which were Totally Nude & Pouty Pink. I really like the nude colour as it's a good colour for my fair skin. In comparison with the nude from the normal collection it's quite different. As you can tell by the pictures below the matte finnish is on the right. The original is a lot glossier and looks quiet dewy. The matte finnish is also a lot more of a peachier colour where as the original (shade 14) is more of a pinkier nude. It has quite a opaque finnish which is good so the colour pay off is nice. One thing I will say about the matte lipsticks is that they are not very moisturising and don't glide on your lips as smoothly as the non matte lipsticks.

The pink shade is a bright colour, which isn't really appropriate for the up and coming seasons, however I think it will be really pretty in the summer time. In the tube it looks pretty similar to MAC's Viva Glam Nicki, however when I applied the quality difference is noticeable. MUA's Pouty Pink is a lot sheerer than Viva glam Nicki and when both applied next to each other it's clear which ones the cheaper one. As with the Nude it's quite awkward to apply and drags along the lips instead of smoothly gliding.

Overall I would recommend these lipsticks as for the price they do their job and look good, but if you have the choice between a more expencice Make such as MAC then the choice is enevitable.

Review- Sleek New Skin Revive Foundation

I love sleek products and have for a long time now, especially their eye shadow pallettes which are exceptionally good quality for the price, and because of this I decided to give their New Skin Revive foundation a try.

This foundation was on the more affordable end at just £7.99, so I wasn't expecting amazing things. It claims that it balances uneven skin tones which is really what any foundation should do anyway. This is a silicone based foundation so I wouldn't recommend it for oily skin types. I got the colour 'White Rose' as I'm pretty pale and this seems to match me pretty well. The colour selection is good for a high street makeup brand with 30 shades in total. What I find good about these foundations is they cater to every colour skin type from extremely pale to a richer deeper skin tone.
(It doesn't look that great a match there, but applied on my face it's a pretty good match)
The foundation blends in nicely and had a nice feel to it, it doesn't leave your face feeling sticky, yet it still leaves it with a healthy glow. The coverage is light to medium, and I totally agree. When applied it looks more like a bb cream however when re applied over problem areas it definiently seems to cover any redness. At the end of a busy day whether I've been to work or college I can always tell I'm still wearing foundation, however I do find I can get a bit shiny so you may need to re apply some powder.

Overall I give this product 4/5 stars - It's a good high street foundation and there's a wide range of colour choices for every skin tone, however the coverage may not be enough for someone wanting full coverage.

Haul: Primark

Hey guys!
It's that time of year where I feel I've bought too many summery clothes so go on a bit of an A/W spree. I didn't get a huge amount of things but what I did get are some good staple items that will last me through the coming months!

First I picked up the top that I think everyone has! It's a loose hanging strappy top in a lovley cranberry colour, it's described on the label as wine. It's a really nice material, very soft and stretchy. I also love the detailing as he straps are a gold chain. I accidentally got a size too big but it's fine because it's not huge! This was £5

Next I got another midi bodycon skirt, as I love my last one and they are I think they are a staple item as you can dress them up or dress them down with like a crop top or vest top tucked in. I tried this on with the top above tucked in and surprisingly the colours work really well together. This skirts in the colour Aubergine and was just £5.

The next item I got was a dress which is really basic but is great for just throwing on with a pair of leggings or tights and layering up. It's a skater dress with 3/4 length sleeves and is a pretty striped pattern in the colours Black and Mink. This was just £5 but will look cute paired up with a little belt or something.

Yes, another dress! My mum fell in love with this dress and really wanted me to get it. I love the floral pattern on it and really reminds me of a dress I love in topshop, except at almost a sixth of the price. It was just £8 but the material is lovley and it will look so nice with uggs and cardigans in the winter.

I love primark jeans as they are so in expensive and mine have all lasted me a reasonable amount of time. I picked up just some of their Super Skinny jeans in grey for just £11 as I didn't have a grey pair until now!

Finally I just picked up a cute belt which is plain black with a gold bow, just to jazz up any boring outfit and replace them awful belts that come free with primark skater skirts! This belt was only £2.50.

This has only been a short haul but I really am pleased with the items I got. I find primark can be very hit and miss. Some items I find to be very chavy and mainstream whilst there are often some gems hiding among then! And am I the only one that thinks primarks prices have gone up slightly? Still can't complain as they are mega cheap!
